Trinbago Knight Riders are currently at the third position in the CPL 2016 points table with 8 points. They will now face a reeling St Kitts and Nevis Patriots side at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill in Florida on Friday.
This is a must-win match for Knight Riders as other teams are also closing in on them. Only Patriots are out of contention for a place in the CPL 2016 playoffs. St Lucia Zouks and Barbados Tridents can still put pressure on Knight Riders if they lose against Patriots on Friday. Jamaica Tallawahs and Guyana Amazon Warriors have already qualified for the playoffs.
Knight Riders are coming into this fixture after an impressive victory over St Lucia Zouks - courtesy - a blitzkrieg from Umar Akmal. The Dwayne Bravo-led side will want to continue with the momentum they gained after that thumping victory.
However, Knight Riders have few issues to worry about. Their star players have been inconsistent and some of them have been really poor, especially, Brendon McCullum. The former New Zealand captain made his debut in the CPL in the current season and he surely did not play up to his potential.
Meanwhile, Patriots are languishing at the bottom of the points table with just two points from eight matches. They have lost seven games in the current season and it seems that they are heading for a bottom-of-the-table finish for the second consecutive time.
Faf du Plessis will want to lead his side to victory in their last couple of matches and try and spoil other teams' party in CPL 2016.
Expected playing XI:
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots: Lendl Simmons, Evin Lewis, Faf du Plessis (C), JJ Smuts, Jonathan Carter, Brad Hodge, Devon Thomas (wk), Sheldon Cottrell, Samuel Badree, Krishmar Santokie, Jeremiah Louis.
Trinbago Knight Riders: William Perkins, Brendon McCullum, Colin Munro, William Perkins, Umar Akmal, Dwayne Bravo (C), Denesh Ramdin (wk), Anton Devcich, Sunil Narine, Nikita Miller, Ronsford Beaton.
