Jamaica Tallawahs will face St Lucia Zouks in match no. 30 of CPL 2016 at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill in Florida on Sunday. Both the teams have made it to the playoffs and a win or a loss will not change that fact.
However, with a win the Tallawahs can finish the group stage of CPL 2016 at the top of the points table.
Zouks started off with their CPL 2016 campaign with a string of losses but they bounced back brilliantly and won almost all their home matches to secure a place in the playoffs.
The Tallawahs, on the other hand, have been one of the strongest sides in CPL 2016 right from the start of the tournament. When Chris Gayle decides to lead from the front, the rest of the teammates can afford to sit back and relax.
However, these two sides met recently and Zouks outclassed the Tallawahs in a grand fashion. The former thrashed the latter by 63 runs. Andre Fletcher, Johnson Charles and Shane Watson were the stars of the show and these three have been very good throughout CPL 2016.
For the Tallawahs, Chris Gayle has lost a bit of form and touch in the last couple of matches. One big innings and he will be good to go right till the end. Every bowler in this universe fears the big Jamaican and they have all the reasons to do so.
Facing the same side in a span of two days is surprising and tiring at the same time. The fixtures were such that the teams can do nothing but play their last match of the US leg of CPL 2016.
Tallawahs will look to avenge that thrashing they were handed by Zouks in the last match at the same venue. Andre Russell, who has been extremely efficient for the Tallawahs will look to step up and get some more runs and wickets under his belt to boost his confidence ahead of the playoffs.
Expected playing XI:
Jamaica Tallawahs: Chris Gayle (C), Chadwick Walton, Kumar Sangakkara (wk), Rovman Powell, Shakib Al Hasan, Andre Russell, Alex Ross, Timroy Allen, Kesrick Williams, Imad Wasim, Jon-Russ Jaggesar.
St Lucia Zouks: Johnson Charles, Shane Watson, Andre Fletcher (wk), David Miller, Grant Elliot, Darren Sammy (C), Mike Hussey, Gidron Pope, Delorn Johnson, Shane Shillingford, Jerome Taylor.
