T20 leagues across the globe have become popular over a period of time. While IPL might be the most-watched T20 league in the world, the likes of BBL, Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and NatWest T20 Blast are also catching up in terms of popularity.
The fourth edition of the CPL will hope to make more impact in the T20 game, with the cricket carnival set to be hosted in the Caribbean islands Indies and in the USA from Wednesday.
For the first time in the history of the tournament, six matches will be played in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the US. St Kitts will host the playoffs, including the final, of CPL 2016.
The first match of the CPL 2016 will be played between the defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders, led by Dwayne Bravo, and Darren Sammy-captained St Lucia Zouks in Port of Spain.
The fourth season of CPL will also have the likes of AB de Villiers, Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson, Brendon McCullum and Adam Zampa, ready to make their debut in the T20 league.
These are plenty of stars, who will be playing in CPL 2016 and can easily catch the eyeballs of the cricket fans when it comes to the shortest format of the international game.
McCullum is one of those and he is really excited to be a part of CPL 2016 and Trinbago Knight Riders. The former New Zealand captain feels that it is going to be a challenging tournament as all the teams have very good players.
He is also confident of making a positive start to the tournament against St Lucia Zouks on Wednesday in Port of Spain.
"Every team has got good players in the CPL and I think that's probably a mark of the tournament that it's attracting the world's best players combined with the Caribbean's best players as well," McCullum was quoted as saying by stabroeknews.
"It's going to be a tough game [against St. Lucia Zouks] but they're all going to be tough games so from our point of view we've got a good team as well. So we've got to go out there and play in the style and the manner which gives us the most amount of satisfaction and hopefully we win the game."
