In a big relief for Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, a trail court in New Delhi Saturday dismissed the petition filed by Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy.
Dismissing Swamy's petition to investigate the role of the then Finance Minister Chidambaram in the alleged irregularities of 2G spectrum allocation, special judge OP Saini said that no case could be made out against Chidambaram in the 2G scam.
Reacting to the court's judgment, Swamy said that he was surprised and would move the High Court within three months against special CBI judge's order in the 2G scam.
"I am surprised because my evidence against Chidambaram was complete," CNN IBN quotes Swamy as saying.
Swamy moved the court, alleging that Chidambaram was co-accused along with the former Telecom Minister A Raja in the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
Meanwhile, Union Telecom Minster Kapil Sibal said that "allegations were made on political motives".
"Let Swamy appeal to every higher court...perhaps he appealed to God," he added.
