Here's some Rise of the Tomb Raider news that will be greeted with mixed reactions by fans. According to reports, Rise of the Tomb Raider could feature microtransactions, going by some new listings for the game recently put up on the Xbox Live store.
As far as our knowledge goes, these new listings are about Expedition Cards which will arrive as some sort of gameplay modifiers in five different tiers.
What this means is that when you purchase a set of Expedition Cards, you will be offered a random set of cards, which, depending on the tier you bought, will come with certain rare cards. And since you won't have any idea what cards you'll get, players might be encouraged to buy cards for the game repeatedly.
Reports claim that there will be five different card packs, including the Wild Pack, Challenge Pack, Silver Pack, Gold Pack, and Advantage Pack. We don't know if these packs will differ in price. However, as expected, the more valuable packs will be more expensive, and vice versa.
As mentioned earlier, this decision, if indeed true, will be greeted with mixed reactions by fans, given the fact that the concept of microtransactions does not really go well with gamers.
Stay tuned for more updates!
