Bungie may have been doing rounds on the Internet with its recently released House of Wolves expansion, but with the release of House of Wolves out of the way, fans have been looking ahead to details related to the recently leaked The Taken King expansion for the game.
While The Taken King's existence was previously leaked and confirmed via a newly unearthed poster for the same, it seems like Activision has also mentioned about it in its latest financial statement. With the mention, there's now a big chance for the expansion to feature at this year's E3.
However, new reports are now claiming that The Taken King could actually connect the previous two DLCs released for Destiny – The Dark Below and House of Wolves. Sure, this isn't official, but the theory emerged on Destiny's sub-Reddit.
Interestingly enough, the theory is based on what is written on the Grimoire cards for Ghost Fragment: The Queen 2.
The theory goes: "The Hunter came to a halt in front of the throne, raised her covered face to meet the Prince's gaze. The Hunter's pale lips tightened slightly, then resumed their usual stony mien. 2. Eris: How? Toland: You're hunters—hunt. These quotes indicates that this is Eris Morn who is a female hunter."
This is followed up with another quote, found within the Queen 2 Ghost Fragment, which states: "The Techeuns gather at the door as the Queen approaches it. Prince Uldren holds it open with a small bow, and the Queen touches his shoulder as she passes. Send a Crow to Mercury. And another to our new friend in the Tower."
In the above quote, the Queen is talking about a friend in the Tower who could possibly be Eris. Another point of interest is the fact that the crows are like spies of Prince Uldren, while the light house in Mercury could possibly be Osiris' hideout.
But how does the entire thing add up to the new expansion? Well, according to the rumours, The Taken King is connected to Osiris. And if that is so, expect The Taken King expansion pack to allow players to be introduced to Eris Morn and gain allegiance with the Queen, hence connecting the previous two expansion packs.
