With hosts Chile being held to a 3-3 draw by Mexico in a pulsating group A encounter, the Copa America 2015 has really taken off.
Not many matches have been played so far, but this clash between the two at Santiago La Roja has been the most entertaining game of the competition. With this result Chile still lie on top, while Mexico lie third in the standings table.
Mexico, who had disappointed in their first game of the tournament against Bolivia, looked strong as they took lead via Matias Vuoso, who scored in the 21st minute of the game. It was his fifth goal in international colours.
But Chile was quick to respond, as Arturo Vidal scored immediately with his head in the 22nd minute.
While the game reached a different level and kept fans entertained throughout, the second goal from Mexico's Jimenez silenced the home fans in the 29th minute.
Mexico were in an uncharted territory as they took lead against one of the favourites, Chile.
The Chileans, in search of goal went on the offensive and the Mexican side stood firm in their defense. Despite tight defending, Chile found a way to draw level through Edu Vargas, who scored in the 42nd minute of the game.
The team walked to their dressing room as the entertaining first half came to an end with the score reading 2-2.
Again, Mexico started the second half well. But, they were unlucky as Chile were awarded a penalty in the 55th mminute, which was converted by Vidal for his second goal of the night.
Mexico were not happy with the referee's decision of awarding a penalty, as Chile took 3-2 lead.
After the goal, Mexico could not replicate their first half performance and Chile began to take advantage, but somehow, despite a not-so-good 10 minutes spell, Mexico equalised in the 66th minute and it was Vuoso's second goal in Copa America 2015.
In the remaining 24 minutes of the game or so, both sides searched for a winner, but they could not score the elusive fourth goal. Mexico, after an entertaining and energetic first half, looked a bit tired compared to the hosts, who were giving it their all.
However, Chile had to satisfy themselves with a single point from the game, which they were expected to win.
With such stellar performance, will people still talk about Mexico having brought a team minus some of their big stars?
