Coolpad joined the budget premium smartphone battle by launching its Note 5 smartphone for Rs. 10,999 earlier this week, but the competition is pretty tough where it stands. There are several smartphones in and around the Note 5's price range, which already have established a strong position in the market.
Popular smartphones such as Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Lenovo K5 Note, LeEco Le 2, Meizu M3 Note and Asus Zenfone 3 are some of the strong rivals to Coolpad Note 5. But here's a comparison of Coolpad's smartphone against the two fairly popular phones in the market – Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Lenovo K5 Note.
Lenovo K5 Note and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 are priced at Rs. 11,999, while the Coolpad Note 5 costs Rs. 1,000 cheaper than the two.
Design and display
Lenovo K5 Note, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Coolpad Note 5 have metal unibody, which gives premium look and feel. The three phones in this comparison also have the same display size and resolution. A 5.5-inch Full HD display is standard for all these devices.
It is shopper's personal choice for the handset's design, which is different in all three phones. In terms of phone's size and display resolution, there is a tie between all three phones.
Camera
Lenovo K5 Note and Coolpad Note 5 feature identical camera sensors. The rear camera in both phones is a 13MP ISOCELL camera with LED flash and the front snapper is an 8MP sensor. Coolpad Note 5 has an LED flash in the front, which is not available in the other two smartphones. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has a slightly better 16MP primary camera with LED flash and a 5MP front snapper for selfies.
Processor, RAM and storage
Coolpad Note 5 packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, which is paired with 4GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 CPU, which is backed by 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Lenovo K5 Note uses a 64-bit class 1.8GHz MediaTek MT6755 Octa-core CPU, which is paired with 3GB RAM and has 32GB storage with microSD card option.
Coolpad has the highest RAM capacity, which makes it good for multi-tasking without any lags, while the other two phones' configuration isn't too bad at all.
Battery
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 features a 4,050mAh battery, Lenovo K5 Note has a 3,500mAh unit and Coolpad Note 5 is powered by a 4,010mAh battery. Only the Coolpad smartphone is said to come with Quick Charge, which is an important feature.
Software
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with MIUI 7. Coolpad Note 5 and Lenovo K5 Note are powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but the Coolpad smartphone runs its own Cool UI 8.0 skin on top.
