Swipe Technologies has intensified the budget smartphone race in India with its latest entry, Swipe Elite Plus. The new budget smartphone is priced at Rs. 6,999 and the company has announced the handset's availability exclusively on Flipkart, starting June 6. Unlike other phone-makers, Swipe is making sure there is enough stock to make the handset available in an open sale instead of flash sale.
Swipe Elite Plus makes a lasting impression with its spec-sheet and competes against other smartphones in the sub-Rs. 10,000 price range such as Coolpad Note 3 Lite, Meizu m2, YU Yuphoria, Motorola Moto G3, YU Yunique, Lenovo A7000 and others. Swipe Elite Plus is the company's fourth device in the Elite line-up, which currently includes Elite, Elite 2 and Elite Note.
"A marvel of craftsmanship and technology combines the beauty of Elite Plus," Shripal Gandhi, founder and CEO of Swipe Technologies, said in a statement. "Our products are designed keeping in mind the expectations of Indian youth who is demanding better experience from smartphones in terms of better hardware as well as software. Elite Plus is priced competitively to offer this superior experience to the aspiring youth of the country."
In terms of specifications, the Elite Plus comes with a 5-inch Full HD IPS display with DragonTrail glass for protection and a 78 percent screen-to-body-ratio. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocking speeds at 1.5GHz, 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage up to 64GB. The Elite Plus comes in two colours -- Ivory White and Midnight Blue.
Swipe Elite Plus has an impressive camera configuration for a device with its price range. It sports a 13MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, LED flash and an 8MP front snapper for selfies. The handset has a large 3,050mAh battery, which, according to the company, lasts up to 2 days.
Swipe also noted the Elite Plus' new speaker setup, which offers good quality sound and has a dedicated amplifier. The handset is made of Premium Jacquard Polycarbonate body and a metal frame with ergonomic arc design for a comfortable grip.
Smartphone manufacturers are considering the budget of a handset with great seriousness, which has led to the entry of some devices with premium specifications. Different shoppers have different budgets for smartphones and the cheaper it gets, the better it is. The sub-Rs. 10,000 price range has spiked enormous amount of smartphone interest among consumers, and manufacturers are taking advantage of the demand with great value-for-money devices.
