The latest trailer of upcoming supernatural horror film "The Conjuring 2" is out and features Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren who investigate England's Amityville story.
The movie, which is a sequel to 2013 "The Conjuring," is based on true events that tell the story of a single mother, Peggy Hodgson (Frances O'Connor), who discovers with horror that her daughters have been possessed by an evil spirit, who has taken a particular liking for one of her children, Janet (Madison Wolfe).
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, the story of "The Conjuring 2" is mostly inspired by the events of "Amityville Horror" and "The Endfield Poltergeist." Coming Soon has stated that the movie will also consist of several elements from "The Haunting in Connecticut."
According to Slash Film, the synopsis of "The Conjuring 2" reads:
"The Conjuring 2 brings to the screen another real case from the files of renowned demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren. Reprising their roles, Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson star as Lorraine and Ed Warren, who, in one of their most terrifying paranormal investigations, travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits."
Besides Farmiga and Wilson, the rest of "The Conjuring 2" cast includes Lauren McAuley, Lauren Esposito and Benjamin Haigh as the Hodgson children. Maria Doyle Kennedy, Simon Delaney, Franka Potente and Simon McBurney have joined the cast in supporting roles.
Apart from directing the movie, James Wan has also co-written the screenplay along with Carey Hayes and Chad Hayes. The movie has been produced by Peter Safran and Rob Cowan who had previously collaborated on "The Conjuring."
"The Conjuring 2" is scheduled to be released in the United States on June 10, 2016, by Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema.
