After the success of Veere Di Wedding that released on June 1, 2018, Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan is back in the game. She has signed the film Salute, the biopic on Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma, opposite Shah Rukh Khan. International Business Times, India has revealed it already last month and now it has been confirmed by an entertainment portal.
Kareena Kapoor Khan will be working with Shah Rukh after a big gap in Salute. Their last outing together was RA.One in 2011, which was SRK's production. The two were also seen starring opposite each other in Asoka way back in 2001.
Confirming the news about Kareena Kapoor Khan signing on the dotted line for Salute, Bollywood Hungama reports an industry source as saying, "Now everything has been sorted, the deal has been finalised and Kareena is doing Salute where she plays Madhu who is an interior designer by profession and astronaut Rakesh Sharma's (played by Shah Rukh) wife. Kareena loved the story and is excited to be working with Shah Rukh again."
The news quoted is by a source and there is no confirmation from either Kareena, SRK or the movie's team yet. "Whatever film I choose, I will let everyone know, but at the right time," Kareena had said earlier. Salute will be, in fact, the second film that Kareena Kapoor has signed after Veere Di Wedding, the first being a film opposite Akshay Kumar that will be helmed by her bestie and filmmaker Karan Johar under his banner Dharma Productions.
The actress makes no bones about being a working woman and being married (to actor Saif Ali Khan) and a mother to a young son (Taimur Ali Khan) and has continued to work after marriage. She also hits the gym daily with a vengeance, managing motherhood, home, her social life and her career rather well.
Salute will be directed by Mahesh Mathai and produced by Ronnie Screwwala and Siddharth Roy Kapur. Watch this space for more on the Rakesh Sharma biopic.
