The new i20 crossover from South Korean car maker Hyundai will be called i20 Active in India.
Before the highly anticipated unveiling in March, the new crossover of Hyundai was caught totally undisguised in the country, while the model was being brought to Bangalore for a TV commercial, earlier on Sunday.
Auto lovers in the country have already seen the new Elite i20 Crossover in various stages through spy shots and leaked images and all that is left to see is its completely uncovered images. Now the wait for that too is over.
A twitter user named Abhijeet More has given us the first glimpse of i20 Active in its undisguised avatar, and one may add its more than what we expected. However, his micro-blogging page that carried the images has now been taken down.
The new images give a clear picture of the i20 Active crossover's size, proportion and styling details such as the plastic-cladding, roof-railing and side-body cladding. The front profile of the i20 Active is seen revised with projector headlamps daytime running lights LED, fog lights and new front grille. At the back, the latest in the i20 line-up sports revised bumper with circular reflectors, roof spoiler, plastic claddings and new i20 Active badge.
From the latest images, it is quite evident that the i20 Active will get an increased ground clearance and the model is likely to come in a new body colour of chocolate brown.
Designed to rival Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Avventura and Volkswagen Polo Cross in the Indian market, the new i20 Crossover is likely to borrow the same engine as of its sibling Elite i20.
The current Elite i20 packs 1.2 litre petrol engine and 1.4 litre CRDi diesel motor. The petrol engine is tuned to churn out 83PS power and a peak torque of 114Nm and the diesel motor capable of generating 90PS power and a peak torque of 220Nm.
The launch of new i20 Crossover is expected to take place on 9 March, 2015 and is likely to get a price tag in the range of ₹6-8 lakh.
