Last week, Shahid Kapoor broke millions of hearts when rumours of his engagement to Delhi-based student Mira Rajput surfaced.
The "Haider" actor, who until now had chosen to remain mum, has surprisingly opened up about the rumours. During the HT Style Awards 2015, the actor confirmed that he is set to tie-the-knot by the end of this year.
"I am not engaged, but what you have been reading is kind of true. Marriage is on the cards sometimes towards the end of the year and I think that's all I can say." Kapoor, who was earlier in a serious relationship with Kareena Kapoor Khan, told the media.
However, he refrained from revealing further details on the same and mentioned that he is very happy to announce the new phase in his life.
"I refrain from getting into details. I hope you respect that. I am here today, it was important to acknowledge it in front of the media, so I am doing that." he added.
The Times of India had earlier stated that Rajput is a third-year English (Hons) student at Lady Shri Ram College for Women. The duo met through a spiritual organisation, Radha Soami Satsang Beas.
However, soon after the news spread like wildfire, Rajput's classmate told India Today that the actor wasn't tying the knot with her but was just a family friend. "Mira has clearly said that she isn't dating or getting married to Shahid Kapoor, who is elder to her by 13 years. She did say, though, that Shahid is a family friend."
In the work front, Kapoor will next be seen in Vikas Bahl's "Shaandar" alongside Alia Bhatt. He is currently shooting for Abhishek Chaubey's "Udta Punjab".
