Rumours doing the rounds that Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat is going off air have turned true, after all. According the latest buzz, the makers have finally decided to pull the plug.
The historical drama is apparently going off air on October 7, India Forums reported. Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat had been a favourite show of viewers since its inception. The show witnessed a massive success, with child artist Siddharth Nigam as young Ashoka becoming a star in his own right. Siddharth's brilliant performance got him a huge fan following.
However, ever since the show took a 12-year leap and Mohit Raina was introduced as the king Ashoka, it had been struggling to live up to viewers' expectations. Although Mohit has managed to do justice to the role, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat has lost its charm.
Further, it has already showcased almost all the possible angles in the life of Ashoka and since not much is left to be explored, the show makers have decided to put an end to it, instead of unnecessarily dragging the storyline. The constant drop in the Television Rating Points (TRP) has also been a major cause of worry for the makers.
Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat would apparently be replaced by Swastik Productions' new show, titled Shani. The show would mark the return of cricketer-turned-actor Salil Ankola to the small screen and he would essay the role of Surya Dev. Popular actress Juhi Parmar Shroff, who would also make a comeback with the new show, will play the role of Shani's mother.
