Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, on Thursday, said Kashmir situation will improve soon. The country's armed forces are prepared to fight off elements posing threat to India's sovereignty.
''India is fully ready for two and a half front war with China, Pakistan and elements posing threat to the internal security," Rawat told ANI. "The condition in Kashmir will be normal soon," he added.
Calling social media an important tool, the army chief said Pakistan is using such platforms to create unrest in Kashmir. ''Pakistan generated social media propaganda is spreading disinformation among youth of Kashmir with doctored videos and messages. However, it will not succeed,'' he said.
While talking about Army's military preparedness, Rawat said, ''We keep raising our modernisation issues with the Government of India and have got positive responses.''
This statement by the Army Chief comes at a time when the protesters are carrying out violent demonstrations against the Army in a highly-volatile Kashmir.
Last week General Rawat visited Jammu and Kashmir to review the security situation and also met state Governor NN Vohra to discuss the same. Reports suggest two jawans were injured in an encounter along LoC in Uri after terrorists tried to infiltrate the border.
