After superhit family entertainer Jomonte Suviseshangal, young star Dulquer Salmaan is all set to enthral fans with his next movie Comrade in America (CIA). The political romantic entertainer, directed and produced by Amal Neerad, has been one of the most anticipated movies in Malayalam, all thanks to the stardom and immense popularity of DQ.
Watch CIA movie teaser
CIA is slated to hit the screens across India on Friday, May 5, and is expected to rake in good opening day collection, though it is unlikely for the DQ-starrer to break the first day record of magnum-opus Baahubali: The Conclusion. Will it become the biggest opening day Malayalam grosser by breaking the record of Mammootty's The Great Father that earned Rs. 4.31 crore? It is something that the movie-goers are eagerly waiting for.
Check out four reasons why you should not miss CIA in theatres:
The major highlight of CIA is none other than Dulquer, who has proved himself as a bankable actor not only in Malayalam, but in Tamil as well. DQ, who began his acting career in 2012, has only less than five films that didn't work well at the box office, and all his recent projects have stayed strong becoming box office hits. The actor also enjoys fabulous fan following even from non-Malayalis, due to which his movies often garner positive response from audience.
Makers also arrange special early morning fans shows for all his films, and in the case of CIA, celebrations have commenced three days before its theatrical release.
In CIA, Dulquer will play Pala-based Aji Mathew, who has strong communist ideologies.
Director Amal Neerad has made a mark in Mollywood with classic movies like Big B, Anwar and Iyobinte Pushtakam. So, expectations are sky-high from CIA, which is also his first film in romance genre unlike previous projects of the filmmaker. DQ and Amal had earlier worked together in one of the segments, Kullante Bharya, in the anthology movie 5 Sundarikal.
Ensemble cast
CIA marks the acting debut of cinematographer CK Muraleedharan's daughter Karthika Muraleedharan, who replaced Action Hero Biju-fame Anu Emmanuel. The movie also stars Soubin Shahir, Siddique, Alencier Ley, Chandini Sreedharan, Jinu Joseph, Dileesh Pothan and John Vijay in significant roles.
Promo video and songs
The makers have released Dulquer's interesting teaser from the movie, in which he speaks to a police officer (Sujith Sankar) about the fights of SFY (communist party) members at Maharajas College in Ernakulam. The 32-second video has impressed cine-goers, who believe it to be yet another blockbuster of the youth icon.
Composed by Gopi Sunder, song Kannil Kannil sung by Haricharan Seshadri and Sayanora Philip has also opened to positive response from music lovers. Its lyric video has also been viewed over 1.5 million times, at the time of reporting.
