The true potential of the recently released Xbox One will reportedly be realized only with advancement and once developers get accustomed to the architecture of the console.
"When you've been around for a long time, you know what platforms are like," explained Phil Harrison, vice president of Microsoft, in an interview with Official Xbox Magazine.
"The games you celebrate and are proud of in the first year, when you look back at them from the perspective of ten years from now; you'd be amazed at the difference. It's a combination of the tools getting better, developers beginning to understand the unique architecture to work with."
Harrison pulled out cloud server as a feature that does not exist on its current-generation console, Xbox 360. This according to him will unlock the full potential of the latest gaming console by Microsoft.
"That can grow and scale indefinitely--of course there is a practical limit but in effect you're uncapped," he argued.
"And I think, from a player's perspective, that's the most exciting part; that it's not just about the chips in the box under the television or wherever you position your console of choice, it's about what the platform will provide you with over time. We've not had that in a console generation before."
Cloud servers will help in better performance and will lead to expansion of features for the players. He also revealed that Microsoft has a lot of ideas in its kitty but not released it for the system yet. He explained that launch titles such as SmartGlass and GameDVR are yet to receive five new features, which are either in the form of an update or a sequel.
He also promised Xbox owners that once the launch was over, "then there are some really exciting things that are on the way."
