As many as 19 ministers took oath on July 5, 2016 as part of the Narendra Modi government. The portfolios of each newly selected minister is not known yet. The top four ministries remained intact, as did other big names in the Cabinet. However, five junior ministers were relieved from their position to make way for the new faces.
Also, missing from the list is Sarbananda Sonowal, who was the Union sports minister, as he is now the Assam chief minister.

Jigjinagi, a dalit candidate, is another veteran politician and was once part of the Janata Dal. He became a BJP member after Ramakrishna Hegde passed away.
22. Parshottam Rupala -- Minister of State, Rajya Sabha (Gujarat)
Rupala was a close aide of Modi when he was the chief minister of Gujarat. Earlier speculations had said that he could be a chief ministerial candidate for the state.
23. MJ Akbar -- Minister of State, Rajya Sabha (Madhya Pradesh)
Akbar is a renowned journalist who was once a Congress member, but switched to the BJP in 2014 as its spokesperson before the general elections.
24. Arjun Ram Meghwal -- Minister of State, Lok Sabha MP from Bikaner (Rajasthan)
Meghwal is a dalit, a former Indian Administrative Service officer from Rajasthan, and a second term MP.
25. Anil Madhav Dave -- Minister of State, Rajya Sabha, Madhya Pradesh
A Rajya Sabha MP since 2009, he's believed to have been a close aide of Uma Bharti when she was the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh.
26. Vijay Goel -- Minister of State, Rajya Sabha (Rajasthan)
Goel is an important leader of the Delhi BJP and had contested elections in 2015.
27. Rajen Gohain -- Minister of State, Lok Sabha Nawgong (Assam)
Gohain's appointment is believed to be a recognition of his contribution during the Assam elections, which the BJP won.
28. Mahendra Nath Pandey -- Minister of State, Chandauli (Uttar Pradesh)
He is a two-term BJP MLA and first term MP. His inclusion is believed to be a positive message to the Brahmin population in Uttar Pradesh, where elections are scheduled to be held in 2017.
29. CR Chaudhary -- Minister of State, Lok Sabha MP from Nagaur (Rajasthan)
Chaudhary is a first-term MP and, is believed to have been inducted for his expertise in rural development.
30. PP Chaudhary -- Minister of State, Lok Sabha MP from Pali (Rajasthan)
Chaudhary is a Supreme Court lawyer, and an OBC candidate who has also been a part of the RSS for decades.
31. Ramdas Athawale -- Minister of State, Rajya Sabha (Maharashtra)
Athawale is a former Congress leader in Maharashtra who later joined the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance. He is a Dalit leader.
32. Subhash Ramrao Bhamre -- Minister of State, Lok Sabha MP from Dhule (Maharashtra)
Bhamre is a doctor who was studied in Maharashtra. He was a member of Shiv Sena earlier.
33. Jaswant Sinh Bhabhor -- Minister of State, Lok Sabha MP from Dahod (Gujarat)
A tribal candidate, he was an important member of Modi's council of ministers in Gujarat.
34. Mansukh Mandaviya -- Minister of State, Rajya Sabha (Gujarat)
A member of the Patel community, his inclusion is believed to be a positive message for the Patidars who have been demanding quotas in jobs and education. Gujarat is also scheduled to have elections in December 2017.
35. Faggan Singh Kulaste -- Minister of State, Lok Sabha MP fro Mandla (Madhya Pradesh)
A tribal candidate and a fifth term MP in Lok Sabha. He has previously held ministerial position in the Vajpayee government.
36. Ajay Tamta -- Minister of State, Lok Sabha MP from Almora (Uttarakhand)
Tamta was a legislator in both Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
37. Anupriya Singh Patel -- Minister of State, Lok Sabha MP from Mirzapur (Uttar Pradesh)
Patel's party Apna Dal has merged with the BJP. She also represents the Kurmi community in the state, which is poll-bound.
38. Krishna Raj -- Minister of State, Lok Sabha MP from Shahjahanpur (UP)
She is another female MP appointed from UP. She is a dalit candidate.
