India have clinched 64 medals, including 15 gold, 30 silver and 19 bronze medals, to finish fifth in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
In wrestling, Sushil Kumar and Yogeshwar Dutt clinched gold medals, while youngsters Babita Kumari and Vinesh Phogat also made headlines with their showing. However, India could not match the 2010 tally because of the exclusion of Greco-Roman category but the wrestlers impressed everyone with their performance.
Indian shooters also displayed a commendable performance and clinched 17 medals, with four gold. Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra shot gold, while Rahi Sarnobat, Jitu Rai and Apurvi Chandela were also on target.
Discus thrower Vikas Gowda, who won silver in the Delhi Games, went a step ahead in Glasgow to become the second male athlete, after sprinter Milkha Singh, to win gold in a track and field event.
Squash stars Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal made headlines on the penultimate day by clinching gold in women's double event. Parupalli Kashyap also joined the league of legendary badminton players Prakash Padukone and the late Syed Modi by clinching gold in the badminton men's single event.
