Salman Khan's recent "surprise" visit to the sets of "Comedy Nights Live" raised a few eyebrows as his ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif was present there promoting "Fitoor" along with Aditya Roy Kapur and director Abhishek Kapoor. The superstar, who entered amid a roar of claps, hugged the celebrity guests on the show and quickly took the exit door.
Now, only time will tell if it was really a "surprise" or a sincere effort by him to trigger an even stronger buzz around the film. Sure "Fitoor" has a positive vibe around it, but the recent media interactions with its cast have had more to do with Kaif's rumoured split with Ranbir Kapoor. And, that's somewhat diluting the essence of the upcoming romantic-drama.
Since it is an adaptation of Charles Dickens' "Great Expectations", the comparison is inevitable but the actress hopes people will walk into the theatres with a clear mind and be willing to give the film a shot. "It's a really relatable story, probably one of the most relatable stories I can think of to have been adapted… Whether you've read the book or don't care about it, the film stands on its own," IANS quoted her as saying.
Revealing a bit about the plot, she said how a mother (Tabu), who is also a jilted lover, tries to protect her daughter from heartbreak and in trying to do so ends up manipulating her in several ways. Slated for a 12 February release, the film also stars Ajay Devgn, Aditi Rao Hydari and Akshay Oberoi.
