Kapil Sharma's on-screen wife Sumona Chakravarti laughed off the rumours of her getting married to Kajol's cousin Samrat Mukherjee. In a radio interview, Sumona cleared the air on the matter.
"Comedy Nights With Kapil" actress Sumona was trending on social media Wednesday night after reports of her getting married to Kajol's cousin started doing the rounds. MissMalini had reported that Sumona is dating Samrat and they will soon tie the knot.
However, Sumona denied the reports to a Dubai radio, Josh 97.8, and said that Samrat is just a family friend. She shared her interview link on Twitter Wednesday, clarifying the rumours.
"I am not marrying anyone. He is not an old fat man, he is actually a very dear friend, but that is about it. He is a family friend and I have no marriage plans with anybody. This is not the first time this has happened with Samrat. Similar news about him and I had happened last year too, but I meet him only once a year on Durga Pooja," Sumona said during the interview.
Sumona has worked in several television shows, but she shot to fame as comedian Kapil's wife Manju Sharma in "Comedy Nights With Kapil." She was often referred to as Kapil's wife, after "Comedy Nights With Kapil" became popular. "After this show, people actually think I am married to Kapil. Wherever I go, I am addressed as Kapil ki biwi," she told the Times of India.
On the other hand, Samrat is a popular Bengali actor and is a cousin of Kajol, Tanishaa Mukerji, Rani Mukerji and Ayan Mukerji.
