Singer Chris Cornell's toxicology report reveals that he struggled with substance abuse. The Soundgarden and Audioslave singer had several prescription drugs in his system when he committed suicide on the night of May 17 in his hotel room in Detroit.
The toxicology report, obtained by TMZ, reveals that the singer had Naloxone (Narcan), Butalbital (sedative), Lorazepam (Ativan), Pseudoephedrine (decongestant) and barbiturates. He also appeared to have taken four (1 mg) Lorazepam tablets.

However, these drugs in his system did not cause his death. "These drugs did not contribute to the cause of death," AP quoted Dr Theodore Brown, assistant Wayne County medical examiner, as saying.
According to TMZ, the singer's widow Vicky and other family members were angry when the medical examiners revealed last month that Cornell committed suicide by hanging. They believe that Cornell was high on the night and he didn't intend to commit suicide.
"Many of us who know Chris well, noticed that he wasn't himself during his final hours and that something was very off. We have learned from this report that several substances were found in his system," Vicky said in a statement to TMZ. "After so many years of sobriety, this moment of terrible judgment seems to have completely impaired and altered his state of mind. Something clearly went terribly wrong and my children and I are heartbroken and are devastated that this moment can never be taken back."
"We very much appreciate all of the love we have received during this extremely difficult time and are dedicated to helping others in preventing this type of tragedy."
Cornell died on the night of May 17 in the MGM Grand hotel room in Detroit. Earlier that day, the singer performed live at a concert in the city's Fox Theatre before returning to the hotel room. Cornell was found on the bathroom floor and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
"A family friend went to go check on him and observed him on the bathroom floor. He was found on the bathroom floor, our medical unit was called, and he was pronounced dead at the scene," Detroit Police spokesperson told BBC.
The funeral service was held on May 25 at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Brad Pitt, along with other celebrities, including Pharrell Williams, Metallica rockers Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield and Dave Navarro of Jane's Addiction, attended the service.
