The stage is set for Chiranjeevi's comeback. The Megastar is all set to act in his 150th landmark movie, which is temporarily referred to as "Chiru 150" by media and fans.
The latest buzz about the project is that the upcoming movie will be a remake of a blockbuster Indian flick. Rumour has it that it will be the remake of Ilayathalapathy Vijay's Tamil film "Kaththi", which was written and directed by AR Murugadoss.
Ram Charan Teja had recently revealed that the comeback movie of Chiranjeevi will be a remake. But, he had not revealed any other detail about the flick, which triggered speculations.
The project was supposed to be formally announced on Chiranjeevi's birthday (22 August). But, the plan had to be changed at the last minute as the Mega family could not procure the remake rights on time.
Originally, the remake rights were acquired by Tagore Madhu, who had also released the Telugu dubbed version of "Kaththi". However, the industry is quite surprised as to why Chiranjeevi opted to star in "Kaththi" remake when the dubbed version has done well in Andhra Pradesh.
It is believed that the content of Vijay's movie gives political mileage to Chiranjeevi. The movie projects the power of corporate companies and the struggle of poor farmers, whose lands are forcefully acquired by multinational company.
With the Land Bill proposed by the NDA government being cornered by the opposition parties for being an anti-farmer bill, the "Kaththi" subject might turn out to be a tailor-made remake for the Megastar, who belongs to the Congress party, to score some political points, says the buzz.
However, there have been a few attempts to remake "Kaththi" in Telugu. Tagore Madhu was initially interested to make it with a big star. The names of Junior NTR and Pawan Kalyan were also doing the rounds. But, the plans could not materialise for some reason.
Meanwhile, the female lead for Chiranjeevi's 150th movie has been finalised. According to the Megastar, it is either Nayantara, Anushka Shetty, Tamanna Bhatia or Samantha.
