The pilot of an aerobatic aircraft was killed when it crashed during an air show in north-central China's Gansu province on Saturday morning.
The plane crash occurred during the 1st Silk Road International General Aviation Convention in the city of Zhangye. An XA42 associated with a Shenyang-based aerobatic team failed to pull out of a dive while performing a stunt and crashed, Xinhua reported.
Apart from the pilot, no other casualties were reported.
A video clip of the aircraft spiralling out of control has also been posted on Twitter. Further details are awaited.
The XA42 is a composite structure low-wing monoplane powered by a 315 hp piston engine driving a three-bladed propeller. It is the tandem version of the single-seater XA 41.
