Police in Chile have released dramatic footage of officers rescuing an elderly woman from a deadly house fire in Santiago. A 16-year-old was killed in the large blaze in the Chilean capital on 20 June.
The footage, which was released by the Chilean Police department, shows officers arriving at a house and rushing to try and help the people trapped inside. Officers and volunteers then desperately try to get into the building, kicking the doors and using metal bars on the floor as leverage to try and help those inside.
They eventually prize the door open, and free the terrified elderly woman. She is then dragged to safety, before the police and others attempt to go into the building and put out the flames.
Officers could not rescue a 16-year-old, who died in the burning building. Local media report that the woman escaped in relative good health, but suffered burns to 30% of her body.
