General Motors India, in a statement that details its cars on display for the upcoming Auto Expo 2016 in February, confirmed two new concept vehicles. The teaser image, along with the press release, shows the 2017 Beat hatchback with rugged exterior add-ons. It seems one of the new concept vehicles will be the Beat Cross concept.
The Beat Cross concept gets prominent skid plate in the front stressing the semi-off road utility. The concept model in the image also comes with plastic cladding and round shaped fog lamps. The restyled headlamps now get LED DRL strips.
The concept model also features Chevrolet's "Bowtie" emblem, roof rails and Beat-specific green colour. The car will be pitted against Toyota Etios Cross, Hyundai i20 Active and Fiat Avventura.
There is no information on the second concept model at present. The industry reports indicate a near-to-production version of the Adra concept, which was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo, can be expected in this year's show. The Adra was developed entirely by Indian designers at the GM Technical Centre in Bangalore. The Adra concept was welcomed for its high ground clearance, all-round visibility, high seating stance and generous interior space.
Apart from these models, GM India confirmed presence of Corvette and Camaro sports cars, Spin MPV which is slated to launch in 2017 and mildly updated Cruze sedan for the Auto Expo. Chevrolet's recently launched Trailblazer SUV will also be a part of the line-up.
