Chennaiyin FC's experienced head coach Marco Materazzi will not be seen on the sidelines as his team clashes swords with Mumbai City FC on Wednesday. The World Cup winner with Italy in 2006 has received a one-match suspension by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Disciplinary Committee for "misconduct against opponents or persons other than match officials" during Chennaiyin's ISL 2016 match against Kerala Blasters on Saturday.
Franco Pasqualetti and Sabir Pasha, the assistant coaches, could be seen on the bench for the defending champions in the match.
Coming to the team news, the match on Wednesday could see the return of Indian winger Thoi Singh in the lineup. He has never appeared as yet in ISL 2016 owing to a long-term injury, but he seems to have recuperated now. However, the bad news is that midfielder Hans Mulder will miss the game owing to a knock, while marquee player John Arne Riise could also be unavailable.
"We got in [Hans] Mulder who is great but unfortunately now he is injured because of a tackle in the last game," said Materazzi ahead of the match.
Mumbai City FC, placed second at the moment in the ISL 2016 standings, will be boosted by the return of goalkeeper Roberto Volpato, who has remained impressive so far. He had missed the previous game owing to a niggling injury.
The good news for them is star forwards Matias Defederico and Diego Forlan are set to appear together after a few games. Sony Norde, however, could miss the match as he has a niggling ankle problem and that could result in Jackichand Singh getting a place in the starting XI.
