Incessant rain continued to batter the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Flooding in many areas has affected normal life and disrupted transport services in the state.

More than 70 people have reportedly been killed and many residents forced to relocate from waterlogged areas. Indian Coast Guard has been carrying out rescue operations in the state.

TN Chief Mininster J Jayalalithaa has ordered opening of 50 more Farm Fresh outlets to meet the demand for vegetables in Chennai.
