Rohit Shetty's rom-com "Chennai Express" has now raised the benchmark for films at the box office after breaking the record of "3 Idiots".
The all time blockbuster film has made a business of ₹3.61 crore on third Saturday, taking the overall domestic total to ₹206.28 crore.
"#ChennaiExpress Week 1: 156.70 cr. Week 2: 43.85 cr. Week 3 Fri 2.12 cr, Sat 3.61 cr. Grand total: ₹206.28 cr nett. ATBB. India biz only," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"The BIGGEST grossers of Hindi cinema. #ChennaiExpress occupies the No 1 spot," Adarsh added.
Circuits including West Bengal, Nizam, Mysore, Mumbai, and south territories have contributed the most to the film's earnings. The collections were low in East Punjab.
The film starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone crossed the ₹202 crore mark set by "3 Idiots".
Along with "Chennai Express", Rohit also broke all records in Bollywood, becoming the most commercially successful director of Indian cinema. He has become the second director, after Rajkumar Hirani, whose film scored a doucle century.
Four of Rohit's films - "Singham", "Golmaal 3", "Bol Bachchan", "Chennai Express", have made it to the mark.
Following the super success of the film, SRK hosted a grand party for the entire crew of the film at his Mannat residence in Bandra.
Meanwhile, "Chennai Express" actor Nikitin Dheer has thanked fans for the success of the comedy film.
"Thank you for th love and support that has made CE the success it has become! Extremely humbled by ur encouragement. Luv u all," the actor said.
