Bollywood film "Chennai Express" continues to keep cash registers ringing at the box office. The romantic-comedy, which easily crossed the ₹200 crore mark at the worldwide box office, has now touched the ₹250 crore mark.
The Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer has raked in ₹275.13 crore within 11 days of its release.
In India, Rohit Shetty's directorial film is doing superb business. It has raked in ₹185.73 crore from the domestic box office till the second Monday.
"ChennaiExpress [Week 2]: Fri 6.50 cr, Sat 8.51 cr, Sun 10.22 cr, Mon 3.80 cr. Grand total: ₹185.73 cr. SUPERB... Note: India biz only," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The film is all set to beat Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika starrer "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" lifetime collection record, which is the highest grosser film of 2013. "YJHD" has minted a total of ₹188.57 crore in its theatrical run in India.
The film has raked in a whopping ₹89.40 crore from the overseas box office and has become third highest grosser film after "3 Idiots" and "My Name is Khan". [Read the full report here]
Considering the pace at which the film is running at the box office, it will soon beat "3 Idiots" record and claim the top position.
