'Chennai Express', '2 States', 'Ishaqzaade' and Other Cross-Culture Romantic Films in Bollywood [PHOTOS]

"Love knows no boundaries." And Bollywood has emphasised this universal fact through its films over time.

From the first-sight love to fighting for it till death, Bollywood has entertained its audience with cross-culture romantic stories for several years. Here are a few such movies:

'Chennai Express'

The Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer was the story of a Sindhi guy and Tamilian girl, who fall for each other. The second highest grossing film of 2013, "Chennai Express", was appreciated not only in India, but also overseas. 

'2 States'

Arjun Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer "2 States" (2014) is inspired by Chetan Bhagat's novel of the same name. It tells the love story of a Punjabi boy and a Tamil girl, whose struggle to convince their families, has touched the hearts of audience.

'Veer-Zara'

"Veer-Zara" was a cross-border film, in which Veer from India and Zara from Pakistan falls in love and then gets separated due to family and society. But love unites them once again as they become old.

'Ishaqzaade'

Arjun Kapoor-Parineeti Chopra starrer "Ishaqzaade" was a love story of two people from different communities. It is a story of a Chauhan boy and a Muslim girl who were born to hate, but destined to love.

'Vicky Donor'

Debut film of Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam, "Vicky Donor", was a blockbuster at box office. The unique story-line has won millions of hearts for the Punjabi munda and the Bengali girl, who created magic on silver screen.

'Jodha Akbar'

The epic love story of Mughal Emperor Akbar and the Rajputana princess Jodha Bhai was portrayed beautifully by director Ashutosh Gowariker. The Hrithik Roshan-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer was also a big hit at the box office.

'Raanjhanaa'

Another cross-culture specimen, this time the love story of a Muslim girl and a Hindu Tamil guy was portrayed in "Raanjhanaa". The romantic drama was the Bollywood debut of Tamil actor Dhanush, who shared the screen space with Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol.
