Kamal Haasan and Gauthami starrer "Papanasam" was in the top position at the Chennai box office last weekend, pushing Hollywood movie "Terminator Genisys" to the second spot.
In its first weekend, "Papanasam" earned ₹1.34 crore from 273 shows, reported Behindwoods. The movie opened to positive reviews and is likely to make good business in the coming days.
"Terminator Genisys" raked in ₹36.62 lakh from 129 shows, considered an average opening for a Hollywood movie at the Chennai box office.
Tamil movie "Indru Netru Naalai" was in the third position, earning ₹21.85 lakh from 87 shows. The total collection of "Indru Netru Naalai" by the end of its second weekend stood at ₹88.45 lakh.
Another Hollywood movie "Jurassic World" had a decent weekend, collecting ₹8.27 lakh. The total business made by the movie in Chennai after the end of its fourth weekend was ₹2.82 crore.
Vivek's latest movie "Palakattu Madhavan" earned ₹5.17 lakh from 51 shows.
Jayam Ravi and Hansika Motwani's "Romeo Juliet" is still having a decent run at the box office. It had 18 shows and collected ₹1.65 lakh to take its total to ₹2.36 crore by the end of its fourth weekend.
Children's movie "Kaaka Muttai" was seventh, earning ₹1.40 lakh. The total business made by the flick is ₹1.88 crore.
The other movies are "Baby" (₹97,000), "Yagavarayinum Naa Kaaka", (₹69,000) and Hindi movie "ABCD 2", which earned ₹55,000 to take its total collection to ₹58.13 lakh.
