Chelsea outshone Manchester United in all departments of the Premier League game to clinch three points at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Rodriguez Pedro, Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante scored a goal each to hand Jose Mourinho his third defeat as United manager in the competition.
The Blues got off to an amazing start as Pedro found the back of the net in the first minute of the match, which set the tone for Chelsea, who were vibrant throughout the ninety minutes.
After the goal, United were trying their best to find the equaliser, and just when one thought the visitors could pull one back, they received another setback as Chelsea doubled the lead in the 21st minute. Cahill scored for the home team from a corner, and the task was made further difficult for United.
Chelsea were all over United and the home team threatened to score immediately in the next minute as well. It was not only their offence, which looked good, but their defence stood firm when required. Ander Herrera hit a long and hard shot, which was palmed away by Thibaut Courtois to Jesse Lingard, whose shot was blocked by the Belgian once again.
The home team could have sealed the game in the first half itself, but Eric Bailly made a brilliant block on Diego Costa's shot right at the stroke of half-time to help United go into the break 0-2 down.
Though Mourinho made some formation changes early in the second 45 minutes, Chelsea looked a superior team. Chelsea, who were a dominant team all around, scored a wonderful team goal in the 62nd minute, with Hazard finding the back of the net.
United's defence were all over the place, and even Frenchman Kante found his way through to score in the 70th minute.
The fourth goal sealed the game for Chelsea, who were solid from the first whistle. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who did not live up to his goal-scoring standards, came close to goal, but he was denied by Courtois in the 81st minute. After that snapshot from the Swede, there was not much action as the home crowd were ecstatic with their team's positive result.
With this win, Chelsea have accumulated 19 points and lie on fourth place in the PL standings.
