Chelsea have announced the signing of midfielder Mario Pasalic from Croatian side Hajduk Split for an disclosed fee.
"Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Mario Pasalic from Hajduk Split," read a statement on the Blues' official website.
The 19-year-old, who is dubbed the "new Luka Modric", expressed his delight at having joined the west London side.
"I am very happy because I am now a Chelsea player. I am very impressed by the training ground and I must thank everybody at Hajduk. This is now a new start in my career," Pasalic told Chelsea's official website.
The youngster revealed that Frank Lampard, who was recently released by Chelsea, was the reason he agreed to move to Stamford Bridge.
"I am a central midfielder, my favourite player is Frank Lampard, and so I am very happy to be a Chelsea player," he added.
The German-born midfielder, who missed most of his debut season (2012/13) due to a Staphylococcus infection, was very impressive in the succeeding campaign, netting 11 goals from 36 appearances.
Meanwhile, the Blues have reportedly agreed on a £20 million deal with Atletico Madrid for defender Filipe Luis.
Earlier reports had claimed that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho had tabled an improved £15 million bid for the defender, after seeing his initial £12 million bid get rejected by Atletico.
However, now the Express reports that Chelsea, who have already completed the signing of Spain striker Diego Costa from Atletico for £32 million, have finally convinced the La Liga champions to part with their left-back, by further increasing their offer to £20 million.
Elsewhere, the Metro reports that the Blues have tabled a £7million bid for Paris Saint-Germain youngster Adrien Rabiot, who recently refused to sign a new contract with the French giants.
The 19-year-old midfielder, who is being tipped to be a star in the future, is known for his technical abilities.
Despite being offered a new contract by Paris Saint-Germain, Rabiot rejected the offer, opting to move away.
Chelsea, who tried to sign the France Under-21 star in January, have now made another bid in an attempt to lure the player to Stamford Bridge.
