Atletico Madrid left-back Filipe Luis is set to join Chelsea as the Blues have reportedly agreed on a £20 million fee for the Brazilian.
Luis has been on Jose Mourinho's radar, after he allowed Ashley Cole to leave the club this summer. The 28-year-old is expected to be a key man for the Blues in the forthcoming seasons. The move is also likely to make him a regular member of the Brazil squad, having missed the World Cup cut this time.
The Blues had placed a £12 million offer for Luis earlier this summer, which was rejected by the La Liga club. Chelsea increased the offer to £15 million later though the deal did not go through again. But now, both clubs have reportedly reached an agreement for the Brazil international.
Reports suggest that everything has been sorted out now and Luis will fly to London this week for a medical and will finalise a four-year deal with the Premier League club.
Once the deal goes through, Luis will become the second player from Atletico to join the west Londoners in this summer transfer window, after striker Diego Costa who recently inked a £32 million deal with the Blues.
Meanwhile, according to reports, Luis has been asked to train with the team's reserves as Atletico boss Diego Simeone is not eager to waste more time on him. Luis reportedly left a pre-season training season after complaining about an injury but Simeone did not buy his excuse.
The Brazilian, however, returned to practice later but the Atletico boss asked him to train with the reserves as a punishment for his behaviour. Simeone has already bought Luis' possible replacement in the form of Granada's Guilherme Siqueira.
Luis had played a crucial role in Atletico's dream run in the Champions League, where they lost the final to Real Madrid. He will be Mourinho's third signing of the transfer window, after Cesc Fabregas and Costa.
Meanwhile, Mourinho has reportedly revived his interest in Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane, who is struggling to get regular starts with the Champions League winners.
