Jose Mourinho has revealed he has no plans to make signings in the January transfer window despite the abysmal start Chelsea have made to the campaign. He added that Radamel Falcao and Thibaut Courtois are both close to recovering from their injuries and will soon be able to help the clubs turnaround.
The Premier League holders are already 15 points behind leaders Manchester City, losing seven of their 12 league games so far and suffering elimination in the Capital One Cup. Recent reports suggested that Mourinho was eager to make moves in the January window, bringing in new names and clearing out the likes of Falcao, Papy Djilobodji, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Branislav Ivanovic after they failed to make the impact expected during the first part of the campaign.
Mourinho had been rumoured to be pressuring the board to sign a striker such as Shakhtar Donetsks Alex Teixeira to compete with Diego Costa for the number nine role, as well as a long-term replacement for John Terry in the shape of Evertons John Stones or Paris Saint-Germains Marquinhos.
But speaking in the press conference ahead of the Premier league home match against Norwich City, he said, as quoted by The Mirror, I will not ask any change to the board for January.
I am happy with my players, I trust the players. I dont need to clean the dressing room. And I dont need to ask the club to spend money in January.
Falcao is back soon and Thibaut Courtois will be back in December, too.
Speaking about the goalie, he added: Things are going normal and the pictures that you have are not Photoshop. Hes training with the team in some activities, but hes still in the hands of the medical department.
