The Congress has criticised Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh for taking a selfie with Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan on Saturday.
The opposition party slammed Singh for taking pictures with a Bollywood star during an event based on child rights in Raipur that was organised by the UNICEF.
Kareena, who is the UNICEF India celebrity advocate, was a special guest, while Singh was the chief guest at the event.
Congress state president Bhupesh Baghel reportedly said that the Chief Minister is busy taking selfies, while the farmers are struggling with crop failure.
"More than a dozen farmers, distressed with drought situation (in the current Kharif crop season), have so far committed suicide in the state. Instead of expressing concern for them, CM was busy in taking selfie with a film star," PTI quoted state Congress chief Bhupesh Baghel as saying.
Meanwhile, a senior administrative official clarified that the Chief Minister usually clicks selfies with children and guests during his programmes and that the photo with Kareena was no different.
