After a good start on the opening day, David Dhawan's directorial film "Chashme Baddoor" has seen a rise in collections on Saturday.
The film, which collected around ₹5.18 crore on Friday, has raked in ₹6.27 crore on Saturday, taking the two days earning to ₹11.45 crore.
The adult comedy film features Ali Zafar, Siddharth, Taapsee Pannu and Divyendu Sharma in lead roles, while Rishi Kapoor, Anupam Kher Lilette Dubey and Bharti Achrekar play supporting characters.
"#ChashmeBaddoor *actuals* Fri 5.18 cr, Sat 6.27. Total: ₹11.45 cr. Excellent!" trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"#ChashmeBaddoor Friday *actuals* 5.18 crore," he tweeted on Saturday.
The circuits mainly in southern India witnessed a good jump in the film's collections on the second day. The collections of "Chasme Bhaddoor" were also high in north Indian circuits like CI, Rajasthan, and Mumbai. In eastern circuits like West Bengal and Bihar, the film's earnings were average.
If the collections continue to rise on Sunday, then it might emerge as a hit at the box office.
Good reviews from critics seem to have helped the business of the film. The film doesn't feature any A-list stars and it is also facing competition from Ajay Devgn starrer "Himmatwala". Still, "Chashme Baddoor" is doing better than "Himmatwala" at the box office.
Moreover, it was one of the most anticipated films of the year, being a David Dhawan directorial and a remake of 1981 film cult classic film of the same name.
The original film featuring Farooq Shaikh, Deepti Naval, Rakesh Bedi, Ravi Baswani and Saeed Jaffrey was a silver jubilee hit.
