After the success of historical shows like "Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap" and "Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat," Contiloe Productions is gearing up for another period drama, this time based on the life of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The makers are currently working on the details of the show, which will be aired on Life OK channel.
According to a Tellychakkar.com report, Bollywood actor Chandrachur Singh has been signed up to play the role of a friend of Ranjit Singh's grandfather, Charat Singh. "Chandrachur will play the close friend of Ranjit Singh's grand father Charat Singh. He will be a positive character," a source told the website. With this historical drama, Chandrachur will be making his small screen debut. He has earlier been part of several hit Bollywood films like "Maachis," "Kya Kehna," "Daag: The Fire," "Josh," and "Dil Kya Kare."
Besides Chandrachur, Eijaz Khan, who was last seen on & TV's "Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai," and Sneha Wagh of "Ek Veer Ki Ardaas..Veera" fame have been zeroed in on to play key roles on the show. Also, veteran actress Anuradha Patel is likely to play the role of dai maa in the series.
Another Tellychakkar.com report said that Eijaz and Sneha will portray the roles of Ranjit Singh's parents, Maha Singh and Raj Kaur, respectively. "The casting process is presently on, and this will be a biggie for Life OK. The story will focus on the childhood of Ranjit Singh to begin with, and will go forward describing his might and valour," a source said.
Meanwhile, Contiloe Entertainment's ongoing show "Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat" recently introduced Mohit Raina as the grown-up emperor Ashoka after the leap in the storyline. While a lot was talked about the much-awaited time jump and Mohit's entry, the show didn't quite fare as expected and failed to take the Television Rating Points (TRP) charts by storm.
