The smartphone battle in India is getting fierce by the day and a new company just crashed the party with remarkable specs offered at an unbelievable price. ChampOne, the maker of an ultra-cheap Android phone with premium specs, launched the C1 smartphone at Rs. 501. Although the price is twice as expensive as the Freedom 251, the specifications more than make up for it.

It is worth noting that the company behind the Rs. 501 smartphone is least heard of and has raised concerns over its authenticity, which was same for Freedom 251-maker Ringing Bells earlier this year. While Ringing Bells stood true to its word after much delay, we are not able to verify how true ChampOne's generosity is.

Keeping aside the brand's authenticity and other concerns, let's take a look at what the ChampOne C1 has to offer. As per the company's official website, the original price of the C1 smartphone is Rs. 7,999 and Rs. 501 is just a promotional offer valid only for the first flash sale, which sounds like a great deal.

Display

Freedom 251 features a 4-inch qHD display with 960x540 pixel resolution. The design is very basic, but makes a lot of sense for its price. ChampOne C1, on the other hand, is a massive upgrade with a 5-inch HD IPS display with 1280x720 pixels and 294ppi. The design is also quite compelling, which can easily be compared against any Rs. 7,000 smartphone.

Camera

Freedom 251 features a 3.2-megapixel rear-facing camera with AF and a 0.3MP front snapper. Comparatively, the C1 smartphone has an 8MP primary shooter with LED flash, HDR, AF and a 5MP selfie snapper.

Clearly, the C1 offers much better results compared to Freedom 251.

Performance

Freedom 251 is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core processor, which is paired with 1GB RAM and Android 5.1 Lollipop. It has 8GB onboard storage with option to expand using microSD card. The ChampOne C1 has almost identical specs, with a 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core CPU and Android 5.1 Lollipop. But the C1 smartphone can better handle multiple tasks with its 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage.

Battery and add-ons

Freedom 251 sports a 1,450mAh battery, while the ChampOne C1 has a 2,500mAh unit. The C1 smartphone has an edge with its add-ons, which include dual SIM support and a fingerprint scanner.
