With the Champions League group stage matches coming to end on Wednesday, the qualified teams can finally look at as to who their potential opponents might be in the round of 16. Here is a list of the qualified teams and who they might face.
Group A
Arsenal finally topped their group for the first time since the 2011-12 season, but still face a tough test going into the next round. Despite finishing top of their group Arsenal could face the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Benfica, Bayer Leverkusen, Porto or Sevilla. The Gunners have not gone past the Round of 16 in the Champions League for the last six years and they will be hoping to change that this season.
Paris Saint-Germain had the chance to top group A but a draw against Ludogorets on the final matchday meant that they had to settle for a second place finish. For the last four years PSG have not made it past the quarter-finals of the Champions League and they will be looking to improve on that record. They face a tough task ahead as their opponent list includes the likes of Napoli, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Leicester City and Juventus.
Group B
Napoli managed to top group B in a surprising turn of events as they beat Benfica 2-1 on the final match day. The last time the Italian club managed to reach the round of 16 was way back in the 2011-12 season. Napoli could face PSG, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Real Madrid, Porto or Sevilla.
Benfica, who were expected to top group B, face a relatively tough task ahead of them with Arsenal, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Monaco, Borussia Dortmund, Leicester City and Juventus as possible opponents. Benfica's best performance in the Champions League so far was last season when they reached the quarter-finals.
Group C
There were no surprises in group C as Barcelona topped it with relative ease, with Manchester City finishing second. With Barcelona struggling for form at the moment they will have to be at their best if they are to progress this year as they could draw PSG, Benfica, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen or Porto.
Manchester City had a decent group stage campaign, winning two games and drawing three. City will be positive going into the next round hoping they can replicate their form from last season where they reached the semi-finals, only to lose out to eventual champions Real Madrid. The Citizens could face Napoli, Atletico Madrid, Monaco, Borussia Dortmund or Juventus.
Group D
Group D was topped by Atletico Madrid, who dominated the group throughout, apart from their loss to Bayern Munich on the final matchday. Atletico Madrid have impressed a lot over the past few seasons in this competition and there is no reason they can't do that again as they could face the likes of PSG, Benfica, Manchester City, Bayer Leverkusen or Porto in the last 16.
Bayern were expected to top this group, but an unlikely defeat at the hands of Russian club Rostov on match day five meant that they had to settle for a second-place finish. Bayern Munich have reached the semi-finals for the last three years and they will be hoping to do one better and reach the final this time. Their potential opponents are Arsenal, Napoli, Barcelona, Monaco, Leicester City and Juventus.
Group E
Monaco surprised a lot of fans when they topped group E which consisted of Bayer Leverkusen, Tottenham and CSKA Moscow. Monaco have been the surprise package of this season and with so much young talent in the squad they are definitely a team to watch out for. They could face Benfica, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Real Madrid, Porto or Sevilla.
Bayer Leverkusen have not had the best of runs in the Champions league in recent years, getting knocked out in the round of on three occasions in the last four seasons. Leverkusen will have to bring their A-game going into the next round as they could face Arsenal, Napoli, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Leicester City or Juventus.
Group F
This group was dominated by Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid as expected by everyone. Though not a lot of people expected Dortmund to top the group they did and they could now play PSG, Benfica, Manchester City, Porto or Sevilla in the next round.
Real Madrid will be looking to defend their Champions league title this season, but a second place finish could come to haunt them as they could draw Arsenal, Napoli, Monaco, Leicester City or Juventus.
Group G
Leicester City were the surprise winners of this group, with FC Porto finishing second. After an impressive performance in the group stage, the Premier League champions will be hoping to continue the same form. They could face PSG, Benfica, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Real Madrid or Sevilla in the pre-quarterfinals.
Porto on the other have a tough draw coming their way with Arsenal, Napoli, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Monaco, Borussia Dortmund or Juvents all lined up as potential opponents.
Group H
The final group was topped by Juventus, while Sevilla finished second. Juventus will be hoping to improve on last season where they were eliminated in the round of 16. They face a tough task with PSG, Benfica, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Real Madrid and Porto as possible opponents.
After winning the Europa League for three consecutive years, Sevilla will be hoping to leave their mark in the Champions League as well. Sevilla are known to do well in Europe. They could face the likes of Arsenal, Napoli, Monaco, Borussia Dortmund or Leicester.
