The Champions League 2015 Group Stage Draw will take place in Monaco on Thursday, and the big teams will find out if their passage to the last 16 is going to be a breeze or a trudge through a swamp loaded with danger.
There has been a change in the draw seedings this season, with the champions from the major leagues getting priority over the UEFA co-efficient points.
That means the likes of Arsenal, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid will not be in pot one, which means this season we could get to see more than one group of death.
Indeed, Arsenal, Manchester United or Manchester City, all in pot two for the Champions League draw, could be drawn with Barcelona, Juventus or Bayern Munich, with PSG also another dangerous possibility.
Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid also face the same possibility, even if the Spanish giants cannot be drawn in the same group with fellow La Liga side Barcelona.
The English Premier League and La Liga sides will grab most of the eyeballs, considering their worldwide popularity, and one team which will particularly be in the spotlight will be Manchester United, who make a return to Europe's elite competition after a season on the sidelines.
Manchester United confirmed their place in the Champions League group stages with an impressive 7-1 aggregate win over Club Brugge in the playoffs, and Louis Van Gaal is now looking to make an impression in the tournament proper.
"I have seen matches on the television and I think that it is the highest podium," Van Gaal said about playing in the Champions League. "It is the highest podium that you can show yourself or your team. It is fantastic to be a participant."
When asked if he is worried about drawing Barcelona or Bayern Munich, Van Gaal gave a typical response. "I don't think they want to draw us!"
