The historical drama "Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat" on Colors TV will take a 10-year leap and also introduce several new faces on Monday, May 2. The makers introduced the new members of the cast, including Mohit Raina, at a press conference recently.
The Twitter handle of Colors channel revealed that post the leap in the storyline, Mohit will be seen returning to his kingdom after 10 years. He will appear in a new avatar, Chand Ashoka, to seek revenge from his enemies.
Soumya Seth of "Kavya" fame will play the role of Kaurwaki, while Kajol Shrivastava, Ankit Arora and Dakssh Ajit Singh will be seen as Devi, Sushim and Radhagupta, respectively. Going by the look of the actors, it appears highly likely that all of them will justify their roles in the historical series.
Mohit, who had earlier won hearts with his portrayal of Mahadev in "Devon Ke Dev... Mahadev," had told Asian Age that he had to undergo physical transformation to fit into the character of the warrior. "It is very exciting when you physically transform yourself for a character. Honestly, I haven't gathered much feedback on my look for the show as we are still working on the overall appearance. I have just shot for the promo so far," Mohit had told the daily.
Although Mohit is excited to play the great emperor on the screen, he was initially apprehensive if he would fit the character. "I am very happy to play Ashoka. It's a monumental character. When the character has huge potential, automatically the job of the actor becomes easy. It's about an emperor's journey and how he conquered everything before finally embracing Buddhism. The role has a lot of variations. After Mahadev, it fit my profile. To be honest, I was apprehensive initially but seeing the canvas of the character and the efforts of the creatives I was convinced," he added.
