The wait is finally over. Colors' "Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat," which has been in the news due to its long impending leap, has finally introduced Mohit Raina as the grown-up Ashoka.
The teaser of the show after the time jump was released recently. Although the teaser didn't reveal Mohit's face but going by sneak peek of the actor, it appears like Mohit will be able to justify the role of warrior Ashoka and carry on with the legacy of Siddharth Nigam, who won hearts with his excellent performance as the young Ashoka.
Going by the video, it looks like the viewers can expect some daredevil action stunts as well sword fighting sequences on the show after the leap.
Television actress Somya Seth of "Kavya" fame has been finalised to play the role of Kaurwaki, currently played by Reem Sheikh. Although the teaser doesn't feature Somya, the post-leap love story of Ashoka and Kaurwaki will be another highlight of the show.
It had been reported that it was Mohit's mother who insisted him to take up the role. "She loves the historical and when Mohit got the offer she was the one who persuaded him to do it," DNA reported.
For the past several months, reports had been doing the rounds that the makers of "Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat" were keen on roping in a popular actor who will justify the role of warrior Ashoka. Earlier, Rishabh Sinha, Sidharth Shukla and Gautam Rode were considered for the role of grown-up Ashoka. "The production house and channel wanted to rope in a well known name as leaps are always a risk. Ashoka is one of the top rated shows on the channel and the young Ashoka, played by Siddharth Nigam, has quite a fan following," IANS had quoted a source as saying.
