Here's some good news for fans of historical drama "Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat" and actor Siddharth Nigam, who plays the lead on the show.
According to an India Forums report, the leap "Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat" was supposed to take in April has been postponed.
The report said the leap might take place in May or June, as the makers have been unable to finalise an actor who can do justice to the role of the grown-up warrior Ashoka. Several actors like Rishabh Sinha, Sidharth Shukla, Gautam Rode and Mohit Raina of "Devon Ke Dev – Mahadev" fame, have been considered for the role of grown-up Ashoka, but nothing has been finalised.
"The popular show leap got delayed and the reason we hear is that the production house cannot zero down to appropriate face to justify the character of Ashoka post leap, (sic)" a source told the entertainment portal.
Earlier, there were reports that since "Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat" is one of the highest-rated shows on TV, the makers were keen on roping in a popular face.
"The production house and channel wanted to rope in a well-known name as leaps are always a risk. Ashoka is one of the highest-rated shows on the channel and the young Ashoka, played by Siddharth Nigam, has quite a fan following," IANS quoted a source as saying.
On the other hand, Kratika Sengar Dheer has reportedly been roped in as the female lead on the show. Yuvika Chaudhary of "Bigg Boss 9" fame was earlier approached to play the role, but things didn't work out and the role went to Kratika.
