Taiwanese smartphone maker, Asus on Tuesday, 6 January, unveiled the second generation ZenFone series handset at the ongoing CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2015.

"The passion behind the design of ZenFone 2 is our never-ending desire to empower luxury for everyone," said ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih.

"We have drawn on our considerable engineering expertise and experience with our popular ZenFone to create a smartphone that embodies this ambition. That device is the incredible new ZenFone 2 — luxury that everyone can enjoy." He added

Asus Zenfone 2 sports a 5.5 full HD IPS display and ships with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with custom ZenUI out-of-the-box.

Under the hood, it packs 64-bit class Intel Atom CPU, sumptuous 4GB RAM, 13mp main camera, 5mp snapper on the front and a 3,000mAh battery.

On the other hand, ZenFone Zoom too flaunts a similar 5.5-inch full HD display and as the name suggests, it boasts of 13mp camera with an OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation), 3X optical zoom, 10-element lens, which can further add 12X digital zoom for even finer close-up details. It also features the laser auto-focus technology, which was first seen on LG G3.

For the uninitiated, this advanced auto-focus technology measures the distance between the subject and the camera using a laser beam enabling quick capture of good quality photos even under low-light conditions

Other key specifications of the ZenFone Zoom such as RAM capacity, storage, battery details are still under wraps. These details are said to be revealed during local launches later in the year.

The company has reportedly confirmed that the ZenFone 2 will be made available in select markets in March for around $199 (€166/₹12,600). Whereas the ZenFone Zoom is set to hit stores only in the second quarter for $399 (€334/₹25,300).
