In the aftermath of the militant attacks in Peshawar in which 132 school children were gunned down, the Centre on Wednesday issued an advisory to tackle possible terror threats.
An immediate requirement to scale up security around schools has been called for and the alert will continue till at least end of 2015, reports NDTV.
In the Ministry of Homes Affairs advisory that was issued to the states, the importance to conduct mock drills was also stated.
The situation has been made even more unstable with terror threats by the SIMI members who escaped from Khandwa jail.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said, "I just want to say that all state governments have been issued an advisory by the home ministry," he told reporters outside parliament on being asked whether steps have been taken by the government to secure educational institutions.
"The law enforcement agencies should take all measures towards target hardening of vulnerable places and installations. This includes public places with high footfalls, public transport, including railways, and schools in particular," the advisory said.
