The horror entertainer, helmed by Ranjith Sankar, opened to fabulous response from audience, who lauded the team of Pretham for moving away from conventional horror thrillers in Malayalam. Interestingly, it had a ghost, who wore a black attire, contrary to the white attires that Kerala audience have seen in horror films till date, thanks to Saritha Jayasurya, who designed the costumes in Pretham.
Pretham marks the third time association of Ranjith with Jayasurya after the movies Punyalan Agarbattis and Su.. Su... Sudhi Vathmeekam, which the duo had co-produced as well.
Pretham has also become the biggest solo blockbuster of Jayasurya's acting career. The multi-starrer, which released on August 12, entered the Rs 10 crore club within 17 days of its release in Kerala. It is believed to have earned over Rs. 1.3 crore from multiplexes in Kochi alone after completing 25 days of its successful run.
