In a shocking CCTV footage, an elderly couple is seen being beaten up by a man at their mobile phone store in Sector 18 of Chandigarh.

The footage, which was captured on the mobile store CCTV on Thursday evening, shows the attacker arguing with the woman and slapping her. He later turns to her husband, pulling him by the collar, and headbutts him.

However, none of the bystanders or other shopkeepers came forward to rescue the helpless couple.

The attacker, who was allegedly drunk, had come to speak with the couple's son over some issue regarding a moblie handset, said reports. The police arrested him later.

The elderly man, identified as Joginder, told ANI that they do not have any personal enmity with anyone and that they do not know why the attacker assaulted them. He added that the onlookers were just watching and did not offer them any help.

Joginder's hand was fractured, while his wife's jaw was wounded because of the slapping.
