"Castle" season 8 episode 8, titled "Mr & Mrs Castle", aired on 23 November, before it officially went on a mid-season break and is now expected to return with episode 9 only next year, on 1 February, 2016.
And according to the reports, the ABC series will show Kate-Rick solving the murder of a capella group member and will have to put up an separation act in the returning episode, titled, "Tone Death."
Fans had been eagerly waiting for Kate-Rick reunion, and they got to see it in the mid-season finale. Castle-Beckett team was seen working together on a murder case, on a cruise ship, moving out to the sea. Castle realises that Kate is conducting a secret investigation with Vikram and asks Hayley to find out details.
But, at the end of the episode Castle discovers that Kate is looking for the murderers behind Attorney General's office and after failed attempts at nabbing someone associated with the Drug Cartel, Kate admits to Castle that she can't solve it alone.
And now, the showrunners Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter have hinted that the Rick-Kate reunion will lend another interesting twist to the plot and it will not last long. The duo has got back together only to get separated again in "Tone Death", said Hawley.
In an interview, the showrunners have said that Castle-Beckett will have to put up an act of separation in front of family and colleagues, when in reality they are still together. "What we love is that now that we're twisting it so that they're in it together but the public face of them is separate, that allows the audience to be in on the joke with them — in the sense that they can fight in public, but the audience knows it's just an act," Hawley said.
